We would like to congratulate each of our 128 graduates of Class of 2022. Their two years represented so much beyond the IB Diploma. They have become young leaders who champion peace, sustainability and positive change in their respective communities and the world despite the challenging circumstances in the last two years.
This year 121 students, graduated from Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPCUWC), obtain an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Based on the provisional results of IB Diploma 2022, we are pleased to announce that 37% of our graduates have received 40 or more Diploma points in the IB Diploma exams, higher than the world average of 18.4% (in May 2021). Out of a maximum of 45 Diploma points, 2 graduate(s) obtained 45 with 7 44s and 6 43s.
“I have seen the most extraordinary resilience of Class of 2022 who have gone through so many twists and turns since they joined the College with COVID-19 being the constant background they all had to navigate. These results are a real testament to our students who have been committed to overcoming many personal obstacles and challenges. I would also like to thank our staff who continue to instill positive energy in the students to navigate through COVID-19.” Principal Arnett Edwards said.
LPCUWC, established in 1992, is home to a diverse community of over 250 students from over 90 countries. It is one of 18 UWC schools and colleges across the globe on a mission to make education “a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.” Its unique approach to teaching-learning is carried out on the three pillars of UWC education: Academics, Education Outside the Classroom, and Residential Life. Over 40% of students from Hong Kong and overseas in LPCUWC are funded by need-based scholarships. College Year 2022/23 marks the celebrations of the 30th Anniversary of the College and the 50th Anniversary of UWC Hong Kong Committee. Hong Kong has had a long history with the UWC, sending the first batch of Hong Kong students to overseas UWC Schools and Colleges back in 1972. In 1992, LPCUWC started operations in Hong Kong.
